In a House Ways and Means Committee hearing with United States Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer, Congressman Paulsen (MN-03) spoke about the importance of promoting a robust trade agenda. As the co-chair of the Congressional Digital Trade Caucus, Paulsen highlighted the rapidly changing economy and emphasized the need for American trade policy to modernize along with it. He also encouraged Lighthizer to ensure that U.S. trade policy encourages medical innovation that benefits American businesses and workers.

At a Joint Economic Committee Hearing entitled "Economic Aspects of the Opioid Crisis," Congressman Erik Paulsen (MN-03) discussed what can be done to address the impacts of opioid abuse. He emphasized that this epidemic does not discriminate and affects people from all walks of life, including music legend Prince, who passed away last year from fentanyl at his Chanhassen home, as well as a mother from Maple Grove, who spoke with the Congressman recently about her son's death from acrylfentanyl.
